If you always type in long text strings, lighten your typing load with AutoCorrect! Type your text string, for example,? ?a 501(c)3 organization.? Select it, then click on the File tab (or Office button) and Options (or Word Options). In the Proofing category, choose the first button, AutoCorrect. Type the shortcut you want to use going forward, like ?501-?. Now, just type 501-, and the longer phrase will appear. If you ever want to use 501- by itself, after the longer text string appears, just hit backspace. This will not prevent you from typing only 501.
